Based on The New York Times bestselling true story of heroism, courage and survival, Lone Survivor tells the incredible tale of four Navy SEALs on a covert mission to neutralize a high-level al-Qaeda operative who are ambushed by the enemy in the mountains of Afghanistan. Faced with an impossible moral decision, the small band is isolated from help and surrounded by a much larger force of Taliban ready for war. As they confront unthinkable odds together, the four men find reserves of strength and resilience as they stay in the fight to the finish. Andrews Michael P. It’s not a bad week on the home market, given the time of year. It isn’t quite Pick of the Week material, on the other hand. There are a few choices including a pair of documentaries: Plimpton! It was essentially a coin-toss between the three, but in the end I went with Plimpton! Lone Survivor came out for an Oscar-qualifying run late in December ofwhich seemed odd, because it didn’t look like the typical Oscar-bait movie. This lifts the expectations, but is this for the best?

If they let them go, they can expect hundreds of enemies swarming them within hours. If they kill them, they violate the Geneva Convention. What should they do? But director Peter Berg did splice in some Hollywood drama. The SEALs also worried about the terrain — a steep and jagged mountain with no trees to offer cover. And the men were clearly apprehensive before they went on the mission: SEALs usually take eight magazines of bullets with them on missions; all four men took eleven. In the movie, after much discussion about what to do with the herders, Mike Murphy made the final decision about what to do. In reality, they voted. Matt Axelson Ben Foster was in favor of killing the men. Murphy wanted to let them go. Danny Dietz Emile Hirsch abstained from voting. The final vote then was left to Luttrell who voted to let them go. Though Luttrell is in favor of letting them go in the movie, the weight of the final decision does not fall on him as it does in the book. I must have been out of my mind. I had actually cast a vote which I knew could sign our death warrant. All but Luttrell were killed in a gruesome fight on the mountain. Most of the details of the fight on the mountain are drawn straight from the book. They were forced to jump down the cliffs and were shot and injured in the process. Murphy did sacrifice his life to radio reinforcements. Axelson was shot in the head.

In the early scene right after the run, there’s several guys sitting at the table eating. One guy who they call «Frankie» is wearing a black how much money did the movie lone survivor make and sunglasses. Mpvie looks a lot like the real Marcus Luttrell. Is it? Or is this just a really weird coincidence? Look the next time you see this movie. Yes, Marcus does make a cameo appearance. He kinda did that to show that HE died in some ways that day as.
Yes, the guy at the table who knocked the coffee cup over was Marcus. He’s also in other random parts of the film. He’s a huge survivoe in real life and dwarfs Mark Wahlberg.
Yes it was Marcus in the movie if you watched close he was in other parts, the Helo that went do watch closely and you will see the frog man. Lone Survivor wasn’t exactly a character study. The book doesn’t dwell on the values and character of the people in mobey, it is about one specific event. There is little character development or growth. As such, the question is hard to answer. He doesn’t detail any previous missions, so it starts with his pre-enlistment life, delves a little into his seal training, and then goes into the action.
